Betty Cheng's research interests are primarily in the area of computational structural biology. She is interested in protein structure: analysis and prediction. She has worked on a method to predict the three dimensional structure of proteins as well as refinement of the X-ray crystal structure of HRV-14 (human rhinovirus). She is currently interested in structural classification and prediction of scorpion toxins (see http://sdmc.krdl.org.sg:8080/scorpion/) in collaboration with Dr. Vladimir Brusic and his group. She is interested in using the Internet as a tool for teaching and collaboration and is one of the founding participants in S-star.org (see http://www.s-star.org), a global consortia of universities interested in collaborative teaching and research in life science informatics.

Betty Cheng holds a PhD in Biophysical Chemistry from Cornell University and an A.B. in Chemistry and Physics from Mount Holyoke College.
