About BioGRID'01

The Computational Grid is an important emerging paradigm for organizing and sharing computing, network, storage and instrument resources in large-scale applications. The Asia Pacific GRID (APGRID) will be holding its Asia Pacific Grid Workshop 2001 in Tokyo Japan from 22-24 October 2001, signaling an important milestone for Grid computing in the region. In Singapore, we are holding a BioGRID computing symposium on the 26th October 2001 to focus on Computational Grids in the diverse fields of Life Sciences.

The BioGrid Computing Symposium 2001 in Singapore brings together participants from an interdisciplinary background to learn about grid applications and infrastructure with the aim of planning and discussing future directions for grid development in the life sciences for the Asia Pacific Region beginning in Singapore. Local and International speakers will present the latest overview of Grid Computing and its interface with the Life Sciences, as well as specific research developments. A special discussion session to coordinate the growth of a regional BioGrid is also planned.

BioGRID'01 is proudly sponsored by SUN Microsystems and co-organised by APBioNet, NUS and NTU
